Mini Meditation
Sit in a quiet private place.
Sit straight with your hands in your lap or on your knees.
Choose a colour and find all the things in your mind that are that colour.
Choose another colour and repeat.
And again.
Close your eyes and try to find a sound.
Listen to the sound. Hear only that sound.
Try to find another sound.
Listen to the sound. Hear only that sound.
Try to find a third sound.
Listen to the sound. Hear only that sound.
Turn your attention to your breathing. Focus on each breath in and out.
Hear it, feel it.
Other thoughts will try to distract you, ignore them. This takes practice but eventually you will be able to dismiss these thoughts.
Open your eyes when you feel ready to do so.
You may find at first that this exercise sends you to sleep, don’t worry that’s fine. The time will come when you can do it without falling asleep.
