He trained as a Dr and qualified in 1912. He went onto develop a</p>
<p style="margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px; font: 11.0px Helvetica;">private practice near Harley Street, London. But slowly he became dissatisfied with</p>
<p style="margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px; font: 11.0px Helvetica;">the results of orthodox medicine.<span id="more-689"></span></p>
<p style="margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px; font: 11.0px Helvetica;">His health was poor and was refused service for WW1 and became very ill himself in</p>
<p style="margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px; font: 11.0px Helvetica;">1917. He was determined to continue his work which led to a complete recovery.</p>
<p style="margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px; font: 11.0px Helvetica;">From 1919 – 1922 he worked as a bacteriologist at the London Homeopathic</p>
<p style="margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px; font: 11.0px Helvetica;">Hospital.</p>
<p style="margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px; font: 11.0px Helvetica;">He discovered the work of Samuel Hahnemann, the founder of Homoeopathy, and</p>
<p style="margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px; font: 11.0px Helvetica;">recognized the importance of personality and disease. Dr Bach was already</p>
<p style="margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px; font: 11.0px Helvetica;">convinced following one’s true vocation is essential to spiritual and physical health.</p>
<p style="margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px; font: 11.0px Helvetica;">He still had his Harley Street practice and in his spare time continued to search for a</p>
<p style="margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px; font: 11.0px Helvetica;">simple method of treatment. In 1928, at a dinner party, he realised people fell into</p>
<p style="margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px; font: 11.0px Helvetica;">several distinct groups. He realised each group of people would react differently to</p>
<p style="margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px; font: 11.0px Helvetica;">illness.</p>
<p style="margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px; font: 11.0px Helvetica;">In the autumn of 1928 he visited Wales and came back with two plants, Mimulus and</p>
<p style="margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px; font: 11.0px Helvetica;">Impatiens and used them on patience after preparing an oral vaccine in the usual</p>
<p style="margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px; font: 11.0px Helvetica;">way for that time. He had immediate success. He prescribed according to</p>
<p style="margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px; font: 11.0px Helvetica;">personality. Later that year he added Clematis.</p>
<p style="margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px; font: 11.0px Helvetica;">In 1930, aged 43, he closed his practice and went to Wales to find more plants from</p>
<p style="margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px; font: 11.0px Helvetica;">the countryside. Walking one day he realised intuitively the dew on the flowers</p>
<p style="margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px; font: 11.0px Helvetica;">heated by the sun would transmit the healing properties from the flower into the</p>
<p style="margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px; font: 11.0px Helvetica;">dew giving him the ‘sun method of preparation’ using natural spring water. From</p>
<p style="margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px; font: 11.0px Helvetica;">August 1930 to 1934 Dr Bach live in Cromer, Norfolk, finding more flowers for his</p>
<p style="margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px; font: 11.0px Helvetica;">system.</p>
<p style="margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px; font: 11.0px Helvetica;">In 1934 he moved to Mount Vernon, Oxfordshire to continue his work. At that time</p>
<p style="margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px; font: 11.0px Helvetica;">he suffered himself mentally and physically before finding the next appropriate plant</p>
<p style="margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px; font: 11.0px Helvetica;">to affect his condition. He developed the 38 remedies and Rescue Remedy before his</p>
<p style="margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px; font: 11.0px Helvetica;">peaceful death there in 1936.</p>
<p style="margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px; font: 11.0px Helvetica;">Mount Vernon is still the home of the Bach Flower Remedies and remains the centre</p>
<p style="margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px; font: 11.0px Helvetica;">of the training programme today.</p>
<p style="margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px; font: 11.0px Helvetica;">“Health can be no more obtained by payment of gold than a child can purchase his</p>
